WILLIAMS TWP., Pa. - A Williams Township homeowner told police that he struggled with a Bethlehem woman he found in his house trying to use a bicycle tire repair kit as band-aids.

Pennsylvania State Police detained Kimberly A. Landes Friday afternoon after they found her climbing up a stream bank in only her bra and underwear. The 37-year-old is now facing burglary, theft, assault and related charges. District Judge Alan Mege arraigned her Friday evening, setting bail at $100,000.

State police were dispatched to a home in the first block of Hexenkopf Road in Williams Township about 12:15 p.m. Friday to investigate a report of an ongoing disturbance. A trooper arrived to find Landes climbing up the stream bank just north of the house, according to court records.

The woman was wearing only her undergarments with her arms and legs covered in cuts, according to police. She tried to run into a wooded area, prompting the trooper to detain her for her own safety.

Landes became “incoherent and combative” and tried to run, according to records. She allegedly attempted to scratch at the trooper and grab his equipment belt. Other troopers arrived to assist.

The victim told authorities that he heard a noise and started looking around his house, when he found Landes in a kitchen closet using the tire repair kit. He temporarily mollified Landes by offering her help and band-aids.

But she quickly turned and allegedly tried to break a kitchen window with a toaster and potted plants. Landes continued destroying the kitchen before grabbing a knife and struggling with the victim, who sustained small cuts to his hands and face.

Landes ran outside and broke into the neighboring home by kicking the storm door. But the incursion into the neighbor’s house was only a brief one as the first victim pulled her outside.

From there, she ran into the garage, rummaged through the victim’s vehicles, tried to lock herself in the trunk of his car and threw more potted plants into the stream. Landes, of West Bruce Street in Bethlehem, was eventually taken to the hospital for treatment.

Court records do not indicate why Landes may have been in Williams Township, why she allegedly broke into the home or how she came to be wearing only her underwear and bra.

Authorities charged Landes with three counts of burglary, two counts of criminal trespass and one count of theft, all felonies. She also faces single misdemeanor counts of simple assault, criminal mischief and resisting arrest.

Landes failed to post bail and was sent to Northampton County Prison to await a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 5.
